REVIEWS

As James Turner in An Amazing Story: German Abolitionists of Missouri:

"Actor [Abraham Shaw] captured the audience immediately as the lights went down and he strolled through the audience to the stage, singing the old spiritual, “Oh, Freedom,” with his rich baritone voice."

— John Buckner, Hermann Advertiser-Courier

As Curtis Taylor, Jr. In Dreamgirls:

"Abraham Shaw turns in his strongest performance to date as the innovative, smooth talking Taylor. Never quite trustworthy, Shaw’s character is still compelling and convincing... Shaw handles Taylor’s self-serving ambiguities with a confident patter that goes a long way in convincing himself, and others, of his vision."

— Tina Farmer, KDHX

As John Hale in Crucible:

"Abraham Shaw playing Reverend John Hale, brought a great depth to the role. Shaw gave his character a sincerity that made the town's witch hunt more understandable... Both Shaw and Wright deserve a great deal of credit for making that moment as powerful as it was since Tituba's confession can often seem an almost minstrel-like performance."

— Jacob Juntunen, KDHX

As Johannes in Lost in the Stars:

"Abraham Shaw, Stephen Peirick, Evan Adams, Chuck Lavazzi and Tim Schall deliver moving performances that deftly establish the boundaries and rules of the layered story.'

— Tina Farmer, KDHX

As Aldolpho in Drowsy Chaperone:

"Abraham Shaw plays [Adolpho], The Ladies Man, who was also described as a gullible, European, scoundrel. Shaw just happens to be very non-European. He is black. But Shaw’s interpretation of the European Ladies Man was quite comical and genius... Shaw was magnificent!"

— STL Limelight

As Jailer/Officer in Comedy of Errors:

"I enjoyed Abraham Shaw's (jailer/officer) work in the scene where the arrest happens. Again great work of physical comedy without overdoing."

— Erin Karll, Onstage Blog

As William in Lobby Hero:

"Abraham Shaw embodies hard-working, stay out of trouble determination, while wearing his kindness and conflict on his sleeve. A Black man trying to better his life through perseverance and self-improvement...With a deft touch, Shaw makes sure we see the weight and relevance of both his experience and race making William a little pushy, but not preachy."

— Tina Farmer, KDHX

As John Hale in Crucible:

"Abraham Shaw is compelling as the sagacious Reverend Hale, who regrets his early impulses and works to clear the names of the wrongly accused."

— Mark Bretz, Ladue News

As Curtis in Dreamgirls:

"Abraham Shaw is both a fine actor and singer as Curtis, the group's manager, thrust into the seedy world of bribing disc jockeys."

— Richard T. Green, Talkin Broadway
